During his interview withEntertainment Tonight, actorLuke Grimesshared the grueling experience he had while training at a cowboy camp. He revealed that a lot of things did not happen the way they anticipated.

“Taylor has to hire a bunch of kind of LA city slickers to play these cowboys so he sends us on a cowboy camp: it’s basically a three-day pack trip into the middle of nowhere. We’re sleeping in tents, resting our heads against our saddles. A lot of things went wrong, which made it even more cowboy than it was supposed to be.”

He elaborated on one of the things that occurred during their stay in the camp. After their food got spoiled due to an accident, they had to forage for their own sustenance.

“One of the mules took a tumble, and we lost a lot of our food for one of the nights, so we had to find some. It was good though; it not only built some camaraderie between the cast, but you learned a few things.”

The bad experiences not only strengthened the bond among the cast members but also taught them a lot of life lessons that they can apply in their future endeavors. As Grimes stated, “It’s one thing to ride a horse around an arena, and another to jump over creeks and have your horse get spooked by a snake, and some of the real-life stuff.” This is the authenticcowboy lifestyle.

Luke Grimes Learned To Love Horse Riding

In the same conversation, the actor revealed he learned how to ride horses while filming forYellowstone. He admitted feeling jittery on the first few tries, but as he got the hang of it, he became obsessed.

“It’s kind of a skill set I never saw coming. I didn’t really think horses would have been a part of my life. Once you get the bug, it’s pretty special, and it took me a while. I’ll be honest, for the first couple seasons, I was still a little nervous getting on a horse, and now I really look forward to it. When this show is over, I’m gonna have to figure out getting some of my own because I’m gonna miss it.”
