The Walt Disney Company has announced its partnership with Epic Games to create “an all-new games and entertainment universe” compatible withFortnite. Through this partnership, Disney has invested $1.5 billion in Epic Games and has acquired an equity stake in return.
Both companies are waiting for the customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals to come through so that they can get started on the ambitious multi-year project. This is not the first time the two companies have come together, though.
Disney was one of the first companies to partner withFortnite,as fans got a taste of playing with a host of Marvel characters whose rights were held by Disney during the Nexus War event and the Black Widow Cup. So, with news of this new partnership, one can only expect more Disney properties to make it to the world ofFortnite.
The Announcement That Led to Fortnite Fan Frenzy
On August 24, 2025,The Walt Disney Company posted a message on their websitethat announced their upcoming partnership with Epic Games. The message stated that fans can expect to get characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel,Star Wars,Avatar, and more.
The CEO of Disney, Robert A. Iger, said,
Our exciting new relationship with Epic Games will bring together Disney’s beloved brands and franchises with the hugely popular Fortnite in a transformational new games and entertainment universe. This marks Disney’s biggest entry ever into the world of games and offers significant opportunities for growth and expansion. We can’t wait for fans to experience the Disney stories and worlds they love in groundbreaking new ways.
Players will be able to create their own Disney experiences and stories and will be able to express their fandom in a ‘distinctly Disney way‘. With that in mind, we have curated a list of 4 Disney properties that can propel the upcoming collaboration through the charts.
Imagine the breathtaking world of Pandora, complete with its creatures, landscape, and features inFortnite. With the newAvatar: The Way of Wateradding to the already vibrant universe of Pandora, the players will be in for a treat if anAvatar-inspiredmap makes it to the popular survivor battle royale. The added element of underwater exploration can be exceedingly exciting for fans.
