As you sprint through Marika’s churches inElden Ring Nightreign, beelining for that sweet, sweet extra flask, you might not even bother with the small goodie-filled boxes, as you race to save every previous second.

This, of course, would be a grave mistake. These boxes are filled with extremely valuable consumables that may just make or break your entire run. And I’m not even exaggerating.

Elden Ring Nightlord Nightreign bosses

Elden Ring Nightreign: 8 Hardest Nightlord Bosses, Ranked

Eight great challenges that, both solo and co-op, will require many hours of practice to master.

Nightreign really puts way more of a focus on using items far more frequently compared to its older brother,Elden Ring. In that game, you may have never even touched a Boiled Prawn, but here, it may just save your life.

Nightreign Boluses

Here are some of the most valuable consumable items you’re going to want to look out for in your next Nightreign run. (I’m not including Smithing Stones, because 1, of course, they’re great, and 2, they’re more for your weapons than for you.)

Mmmm, Tasty Ground Food…

“What the heck is a bolus?” I hear you say. Remember those little colored pebble-like objects you totally ignored in Elden Ring? No? Well, they’re far more useful here in Nightreign. Boluses don’t just alleviate status ailments, but now they also give a permanent upgrade to your resistances.

This can be really crucial if you’re going up against a final boss likeLibra, who builds up a massive amount of Madness. Or perhaps if you’re facing the Wormface boss, and you need some deathblight protection, don’t forget to pop one of these as you run through the church.

Nightreign Warming Stone

If you see this on the floor, you’re able to press Y/Triangle and up on the D-pad to consume it straight from the ground! No more fussing around with your tiny inventory.

9Warming Stone

Bask In The Golden Glow

This is another item that I see people constantly leaving on the ground, but you’d be surprised by how big an impact they can have when used correctly.

If you’re just coming up to a night boss, and have taken a bit of damage in the previous fight, but not enough to warrant a flask use, whack this down around your teammates so you can all huddle together.

Nightreign Exalted Flesh

In addition, this is brilliant if you’re a ranged character like theRecluseorIroneye, who benefits from lighting from a distance. You won’t need to move as much as, say, aWylder, and can stand around in your Warning Stone aura to regen, or even just tank damage while spamming your own attacks.

8Exalted Flesh

More Damage? What’s Not To Love?

While the flesh used primarily by your character might not be super impactful, this item shines when you have a relic that allows you to share buffs with your teammates.

Exalted Flesh gives your attacks a 1.2x boost (20%), but, of course, if you manage to group up your teammates and share it, you’ll be getting way more out of a single item. (Remember this is only for physical attacks, so your magic users won’t benefit from this, unless they’re wielding a weapon)

Nightreign Bubble Tears

These buffs and damaging moves often stack multiplicatively in Nightreign. So if you stack this with, say, an Ironeye’s Marking Dash, you’ll proc its explosion far more easily and more often.

Add this on top of damage-boosting passives on the weapons that you have, and you’ll be ripping through that tanky Bell-Bearing Hunter faster than ever!

7Magic Tears

A Colour For Every Style

Deciding on which specific tear is a tough choice, because each is better on specific characters. There’s a tear for every playstyle, in all honesty, and they’re well worth the price.

For example, if you’re playing a magic user, then the Cerulean Hidden Tear is priceless. FP is a ridiculously valuable resource in Nightreign, as you have no FP flask. Unlimited FP on a Comet Azur is never a bad thing.

Alternatively, a Crimsonspill Tear is invaluable on a tank where HP scales multiplicatively. That extra 20% HP scales amazingly well as you reach thefinal Nightlord, and you’re at least level 12. Don’t sleep on the tears, folks. And if you have an extra 25,000 on day 3, definitely grab a tear or two.

6Gold-Pickled Fowl Foot

I’m Gonna Be Rich!

I see many complaints online about how there’s just not enough time in the game, or there aren’t enough runes to hit level 15! This is wildly untrue. All of these people aren’t using fowl feet, and it shows.

While the rune boost that you receive may only be 10%, the golden feet are really common, and as long as you keep opening chests and smashing boxes, you’re able to activate one of these for every single boss if you wish.

Make those Nightlord bouts feel like a breeze with this guide.

Using these for the big bosses is really going to stack up over time, especially if you’re able to clear out the castle quickly. (Pray for Crucible Knights)

If you’re able to stack this with a golden scarab, or even a mimic from Libra’s Deals, you’re going to have so many runes, you won’t even know what to do with them. A full inventory of consumables and level 15 is an easy win for sure.

5Stonesword Key

Putting The Prisoners Back In Gaol

This is a multilayered one with a lot of benefits if you know what you’re doing. I see a lot of people throwing their keys away at the end of a run, unused. Butdefeating the evergoalscan be run-changing.

Not only do you get a massive amount of runes and a strong passive buff, but they scale to your stage of the run, meaning you can do them at any time.

In addition, there exist not only relics that give you free keys, but also relics that give you a permanent damage buff (5%) when you defeat an evergaol. And it’s pretty easy to get through at least 3-4 of these if you try for it.

That is a free universal 20% damage increase, on top of all the rewards you receive from defeating the evergaols. It’s really a no-brainer when you all work together.

4Elemental Greases

Holy? Poison? Fire? Take Your Pick!

Greases are something I even left behind pretty often, until I realized their true potential. Realistically, these are only good for saving until the Nightlord, but when you’re there, they can really turn the tide of battle.

TheWeaknesses of the Nightlordsreally need to be exploited if you want to have an easy time. There have been so many games where either I’ve not run into an elemental weapon that matches my build, or I see others firing spells that bosses resist. It’s infuriating.

Of course, in Nightreign, you’re able to buff any weapon with Greases, something that wasn’t possible in Elden Ring. That is a flat damage increase, especially if the boss is weak to that element.

Nightreign is all about statuses and exploiting weaknesses, and greases do this job perfectly. So if you’re ever in a game and see some random grease on the floor, just pick it up and keep it for later. It might save your life.

3Starlight Shard

Rock Candy From The Great Cosmos

Oh, FP Flask, how I miss thee. Being aDuchessorRevenantcan be pretty tough early on, when FP is scarce. You’ll find yourself running out of FP constantly if you don’t have an efficient weapon/tool like aWraith Calling Bell.

This is where the Starlight Shard comes in. These beauties restore 60% of your current FP, which is absolutely massive and will allow you to keep casting spells for a lot longer.

Not only that, you can find them in normal boxes, or for the cheap price of 1200 from the regular merchant, or 6000 from the day 3 merchant.

In that final battle, it’s really easy to run out of FP when you’re trying to exploit a specific weakness. Having a nice stack of Starlight Shards to keep you full will revolutionize your boss-fighting ability, and stop you from running in with your little scrappy claws, or a giant, oversized hammer. I’m looking at you, Revenant players.

2Boiled Crab

A 3-Michelin-Star Experience

Finding yourself getting one-shot from those big grab attacks? A lot of the Nightfarers really struggle from having poor HP pools, and not just the ranged users! If you don’t know every single enemy attack pattern, which is understandable, you’re going to get hit. A lot!

But this is very much a part of the game. Getting crushed and getting back up again. Of course, you may mitigate a lot of the damage you take by simply chowing down on some tasty crab before you head into battle. 20% damage negation is actually huge and has saved my life more times than I can count.

In addition, this is another great one if you have a relic that allows you to share buffs with teammates. Everyone heading into battle with extra defences makes bosses so much easier to face.

And what’s more, this item is super common, can be found by killing crabs and can even be bought for just 8000 on day 3. FromSoft truly gives you all the tools. It’s up to you whether you choose to use them.

1Wending Grace

Death Is Not Where This Tale Ends

The Wending Grace is by no means a common consumable (in Multiplayer), but its power reflects its rarity. This item allows you to rise from defeat, to fight another day. Pretty powerful, right?

Not only will you come back with 50% HP, but you will get a healing effect to help you out should you be lacking flasks. When playing in a group, you can get this as a super rare reward from killing any boss.

However, in Solo play, this is a very standard item, used in basically every run. Here, you’re able to instead buy it from Merchants for a measly 10,000 runes. On top of the free revive you get normally, adding the Grace on top basically gives you 2 free revives on a boss you may be struggling with.

While this may not be as good as having teammates, it definitely levels the playing field a bit. Now, if you can stack this with the Noklateo Buff, you might as well be immortal.
